On the 7th January 2020 we held our annual Careers Day at the Academy. It was a busy day for our 5th and 6th Year students, who heard from a wide variety of speakers from different professional backgrounds. There was plenty of opportunity to ask questions and find out exactly what day-to-day life is like working in each role.
Our speakers shared their own experience of finding their way into the professional world; the brief could be narrowed down to “What I wish someone had told me when I was sitting the Leaving Certificate!” Our speakers all spoke to me about how much they enjoyed coming in and how impressed they were with how engaged our students were.
We finished the day with talks from Trinity College Dublin as well as University College Dublin. The university representatives were able to present the wide variety of courses on offer and also go through the various entry requirements and process for applying.
We will have DCU – Dublin City University – in in the next few weeks. Johnny Cooper will speak to the students as to why they might consider DCU.
